A Little About Me

I'm a security-minded technical specialist with a background in developer support, e-commerce, and knowledge management. Over the past few years, I've helped enterprise teams troubleshoot critical issues, improve the security of my team's tools and workflows, and deliver better outcomes for users — all while keeping systems running smoothly under pressure.

I love turning complex problems into clean solutions, whether that's through scripting, log analysis, or delivering a training session on secure coding. I'm CompTIA Security+ certified, working toward CySA+, and always tinkering with self-hosted projects and home lab setups. When I'm not deep in logs or configs, I help run the Galway IT Meetup and occasionally give talks on topics like the OWASP Top 10.

Galway IT Talks:

Securing Web Apps with OWASP Top 10, October 2023

I gave a talk at the Galway IT Meetup on the Open Worldwide Application Security Project Top 10. It includes a run down of the top 10, incidents connected to each of the top 10, and suggestions on how to harden apps.

Committing to Better Passwords, Postponed

A talk inspired by a training I facilitated at Shopify, this talk stresses the importance of password managers, especially for developers and other folk in IT, and how they can make your life easier instead of more complicated.

Smart Home Event,
June 2025

I co-organised a community event on smart home tech, covering everything from automations to AI-enhanced voice assistants. My talks focused on finding affordable alternatives, and real-world setups to make 'dumb' tech smart.

Posts & Notes

Occasionally I have ideas for talks that don't line up with Galway IT's schedule, or there's a concept I've come across that I'd like to try writing about to understand better.

I've started to include them in a block!
